Dallas Whole30 Dining Guide: Origin Kitchen + Bar

Origin Kitchen + BarHappy Friday!  Hope everyone’s had a great week…and, if you’re doing the Whole30 with me, hope you’re adjusting well!  It’s been a welcome change for me, as I’d been indulging in some less healthy choices while we were away over the holidays.  I balanced these things out with plenty of healthy meals, but was feeling ready for a fresh start!  Since starting my Whole30 on Monday, the past few days have been a nice reset for me.  As I continue, I’m excited to see what the next 25 days hold!

Heading into the weekend I’m featuring Origin Kitchen + Bar, one of our favorite Whole30 friendly restaurants.  We dine here often, whether or not we are doing the Whole30 because the food is delicious!  (The cocktails are too, but you’ll have to come back post-W30 for those!)  They have many healthy menu options and are very helpful when it comes to accommodating special diet needs and requests.  Many of their menu options are Whole30 friendly as-is, or with minor modifications.  They can make modifications to almost every dish!  Their menu is available here

Jessica Myers, owner of Origin went through the menu with me and provided this list.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.  And, be sure to enter for a chance to win a $50 Gift Card to Origin Kitchen + Bar at the end of the post!  Thank you, Origin!

Important to note:  They don’t use dairy in the preparation of their eggs/egg dishes!  They use only salt, pepper, and olive oil.  For cooking they use all olive oil (except in their fryer, where non-GMO canola is used.  Good to know for post-Whole30, as their sweet potato fries and malanga chips are awesome).  All of their dressings are gluten and dairy free.  They do, however, have honey except for the balsamic vinaigrette, mustard poppy seed vinaigrette, and the almond chutney.

Brunch/Lunch:

  • Veggie Omelette:  Order without the pesto, as it has parmesan cheese in it.
  • Hash Bowl:  This is SO delicious as-is ( I get scrambled eggs on mine) or with the addition of another protein and/or avocado.
  • Grass-Fed Burger:  One of my favorite things on the menu, I order this all the time!  I order it without the bun, sub avocado for the cheese, with a side of their amazing brussels sprouts.
  • The Regular Salad:  Ask for raw nuts, as the others are roasted with honey, and ask for balsamic vinaigrette, poppy seed vinaigrette, or oil & vinegar for dressing.
  • Chicken Avocado Salad:  Ask for raw nuts, as the others are roasted with honey, and ask for balsamic vinaigrette, poppy seed vinaigrette, or oil & vinegar for dressing
  • Warm Shaved Brussels Salad:  Order without cheese and add a protein and/or avocado.
  • Thai Salmon

Sides:

  • Bacon
  • Fruit
  • Chicken Sausage
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Veggie Medley
