WHOLE30 UPDATE: DAYS 5-10

To be honest, I thought I would be complaining A LOT more by this point!  I still may, so don’t hold your breath….Yes, there are some things that I am missing, and definitely still craving.  The thing that makes it bearable, though, is that I am feeling very satisfied with the foods I am eating.  I am enjoying my meals and I am NOT feeling hungry in between at all.  This is something that is new for me.  Before, I was eating mostly healthy foods, but would feel hungry a couple hours after I had eaten a meal, or I would crave something sweet.  During the past 10 days, I am feeling satisfied after meals and most of the time, I don’t feel like snacking.  Or, if I do feel I need something, I usually grab an apple and some cashews, or a hard boiled egg.  Before W30, frozen yogurt in the afternoon would usually be calling my name!  Here are some thoughts/observations during days 5-10.

New Recipes:  I am actually having fun with finding new recipes that are compliant.  For some meals, I have been keeping it super simple, and just putting together what I have available that fits the meal template in the book.  But, I have also branched out and made a few recipes for dinner that everyone in the family has approved of.  The Master Recipe for Curry in “It Starts with Food” is great.  You can pick the color of curry you want to make, and then according to their chart, mix and match the veggies and protein to go with it.  It’s easy peasy, and delicious!  Here is a link to buy the book!  Below is my version of the curry recipe…I also add red bell pepper to the veggie mix!

Eating More Veggies:  This was definitely one area I felt my family was lacking in before W30.  I always felt like we did not eat enough veggies.  I think that I just didn’t find ways to incorporate them into things I usually made.  Sure, we would eat them raw, or as salads sometimes, but it just wasn’t enough, and we weren’t eating enough variety.  This has been a huge improvement!

Sandwiches:  I’m not gonna lie…..some days I really just want a sandwich!  I love sandwiches, always have.  I miss them.  But, I can’t deny that overall I am feeling great eating this way.  I’m gonna push on for 20 more days.  I think it is worth it!
