In case you missed it, we have a new member of the Overturf Family…
Louis is our sweet new Mini Aussie pup, joined the family in March! Duke is so happy to have a little brother! Puppy essentials have been a current need in our house. I’ve compiled all the necessities for having a new pup around the house. Read below to see our families favorite and most useful items for a new puppy! After being a new dog mom once I’ve learned less is more when it comes to what we bring into the house for our four legged friends…
Digs Crate from Wayfair: This crate is perfect for a puppy. It’s super easy to set up and even easier to store away when we aren’t using it. Plus, it provides a safe and cozy space for our furry friend.
Fluff and Tuff Toys: These are our go-to toys for Louis and Duke. Both our furry friends love them. They’re super thick, great for cuddling, and incredibly durable. They hold up during heavy chewing and rough playtime, which is a big win for us!
Snuggle Puppy: A MUST-HAVE for any new puppy owner. This ingenious invention is perfect for puppies who need some extra calming. With its heartbeat and heat feature, it comforts your dog in seconds. It’s been a lifesaver during those early days of adjustment.
Teething Toys: As any puppy parent knows, teething can be a challenging time. Having a variety of teething toys on hand can help alleviate discomfort and prevent destructive chewing. Our favorites include the Freezable Puppy Teething Toy & the Benebone Maplestick
Tucker’s Raw Food: Providing a balanced and nutritious diet is essential for your puppy’s health and development. We swear by a Raw Food diet for its high-quality and nutrient density. We have been using Tucker’s Raw Food for a couple of years now and both dogs love it! We purchase the frozen patties from Hollywood Feed. There is also a freeze dried version. We love knowing that they’re getting all the nutrients they need (and nothing they don’t need)!
Licking Mats: These mats are so beneficial and useful! Studies have shown that lick mats can help dogs relieve anxiety, release endorphins, and inhibit destructive behavior. Using a lick mat also helps dogs eat slower! They’re easy to use, just spread some plain yogurt, peanut butter, or pumpkin or other fruit/veggie puree, or wet food and let them enjoy a healthy snack.
You can also put them in the freezer for a frozen treat on a hot day! Of course, always check to see what foods are safe for your dog. I can vouch that these mats will stay stuck to a wood floor and not move around, thanks to the extra suction cups on the bottom of the mat. Easy to clean and care for. (If you have a puppy in a chewy phase be sure to put the mat away once they’re done using it)
Colorful Leash and Collar: Adding a pop of color to your puppy’s wardrobe is not only fun but also practical. The Phoenix Dog Collar, crafted from natural leather and adorned with hand-stitched beads, features an adorable Aztec pattern. Plus, they add a touch of personality to your furry friend’s ensemble.
L.L. Bean Dog Mat: This mat is perfect for placing beneath your puppy’s bowls during mealtime. With its stylish design and durable construction, it adds a touch of elegance to your home while keeping your floors clean and tidy. Also so easy to clean — vacuum, sweep, hose off or machine wash.
Yeti Bowls: These bowls are perfect for both in the house and on the go. They’re durable, come in so many different colors, and make feeding time a breeze. Plus, they’re easy to clean, which is always a bonus!
Welcoming a new puppy into your home is an exciting and joyful experience, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. Having the right essentials on hand can make the transition smoother for both you and your furry friend. With these must-haves, you’ll be well-equipped to give your new puppy all the love and care they deserve.
