I live in activewear and shop for it year-round!
I thought it would be helpful to compile a roundup of my favorite places to shop for active & loungewear online. It was also fun to look back at some of my favorite active looks over the (almost 10!) years I’ve been blogging! Legging and jogger recommendations seem to to the #1 activewear question I get from readers so I’ll definitely include top picks from each retailer/brand. The six I’m highlighting today are as follows:
I enjoy shopping in store, but sometimes it’s easier to shop online and try it all on at home…
Plus, I like that I can try new pieces on with what’s already in my closet. Below you will find a list of brands and multi-brand retailers where I find my most of my activewear and a break down of what I like about each brand and favorites. Most offer free shipping and have great return policies. This post has been on my to do list for a while, so let’s get to it!!
Where do I begin?! This is the brand that sparked my activewear obsession and inspired the name for this blog! I was introduced to lululemon in the early 2000s, at a trunk show (before we had any stores in Dallas). I was instantly drawn to the stylish cuts and colors, great fit, tanks with built in padded bras, and high quality performance fabrics! These features still bring me back to shop here many years later.
My Top Picks at lululemon (wardrobe staple recs!):
- Leggings- Base Pace Legging 23 or 25 inseam / Align Legging 25 inseam
- Joggers- Dance Studio Joggers
- Jacket- Down for it All Jacket
- Sports Bra- Free to Be Serene Bra
- Tank- Cool Racerback (long or short length)
- Long Sleeve- Swiftly LS (long or race length)

lululemon pieces are chic, versatile, and functional…
Yes, they can be pricey but they also will last years with proper care (always hang to dry except for cotton items). Seriously, I have lululemon pieces that are 10 years old and still look great/have plenty of life left. I would estimate over half of my activewear wardrobe is lululemon! Plus, they regularly bring back old styles in new colors or slightly refreshed with new features. It’s hard to know what is vintage lulu and what is new. lululemon also retains a good amount of it’s value over time and used pieces can be resold on eBay or Poshmark to recoup some of the costs!
I know I can always count on Outdoor Voices for understated, yet chic sets and separates. The pieces are top quality and look great when working out or just out and about “doing things.” The tanks and skirts/dresses with attached shorts are summer staples for me! And their Cloudknit sweats are the coziest!
My Top Picks at Outdoor Voices:
- Exercise Dress- I wear these on repeat all summer, with sandals or sneakers
- Move Free Tank & 7/8 Leggings
- Cloudknit Sweats- softest sweats ever!
- Hudson Skirt –so cute with a matching Move Free Tank
- OV Kits (get a discount + gift when you buy selected top/bottom together)
Some of my all time favorite dresses, jumpsuits, and leggings are from Athleta! They change up most of their styles every season, but their jumpsuits and chic maxi/midi dresses with built in bras are my go-to for the hot summer months. As far as selection and variety of pieces, I think Athleta has the most! They stock a huge range of active, lounge, sleep, casual, winter/ski, and swim pieces. I love the style and high quality of the pieces here!
