It’s that time…one of my favorite seasons, but also the busiest! With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I’d talk about ways I stay healthy and active as the holidays approach. Part of my motivation to work out this time of year is to have plenty of energy to enjoy the season with my family…and, let’s be honest, get stuff done! By making time to care for myself by scheduling workouts, rest, and quiet time, I’m better able to handle life (and stress!) much more gracefully. Its not always easy, but carving out this time makes all the difference…
- If I set my intention by putting on my workout clothes first thing in the morning (even on days I’m dragging), I’m much more likely to go exercise once I drop the kids off at school. For those who workout later in the day, packing a bag with clothes, shoes, and a snack the night before accomplishes the same thing. And, I’m a much happier and productive person for the rest of the day…thanks to that feeling of accomplishment and focus I get after I exercise. Yay, endorphins!
- While we’re talking about motivation, picking up a few new active pieces inspires me not to skip my sweat sessions! Fake it till you make it, right? It’s a small thing, but having gear I’m excited to wear, that makes me feel good, motivates me to follow through with my workouts. Whatever it takes!
- This is a very simple thing, but keeping a water bottle filled with fresh water with you is one of the best things you can do! Drinking fresh water all day keeps you hydrated, improves digestion, and is great for your skin. It’s one of the easiest things you can do for your health. I love S’well bottles because they come in many colors and prints, and keep drinks hot or cold…
For fall weather, everyone needs a chic black jacket and flattering basic leggings in their active wardrobe!
These are staples to wear together for a monochromatic look, or mix with other prints or brights. You’ll wear them again and again! The leggings are $50 and the jacket has been marked down to $39, so you can get both pieces under $100! The jacket really is a style steal, with high/low hem detail, thumbholes, fleecy fabric, and an asymmetric zipper.
My next post will feature a workout from The Move Project!
I’m excited to share it with you all, because this is how I train most of the time. In my experience, these being consistent with these workouts has helped me reach my personal fitness goals and stay injury free. Be on the lookout for that, and let me know if I can answer any of questions about how I balance my workouts/nutrition once the holiday season hits. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
