TAOS SKI VALLEY | HOTEL ST. BERNARD

photo-160Every winter I look forward to the time we spend in Taos, NM.  The scenery is always wonderful, but it is particularly breathtaking in the winter months.  It is where I grew up, and where most of my family still resides. We have lived in Dallas since 2002 and it is our home, but Taos will always be home, too!  I feel fortunate that we have a place to come back to, an escape from the city to recharge and renew.  I also love that we can bring our kids here, to immerse them in the culture and outdoor activities that Taos has to offer.

On this trip, we spent time at Taos Ski Valley.  Anyone who loves to ski or snowboard has to visit TSV!  Even if you don’t ski or board, it is still a must-see to experience its natural beauty.  It’s an amazing mountain with a character all its own.  There’s so much history here that you really have to visit to experience it for yourself!  Ryan and I both learned to ski at TSV, and now Marisa is learning as well.  Andrew is not interested just yet, but hopefully he will be soon!  I look forward to the time when all four of us can ski together!  (More info at skitaos.org)

Taos Ski Valley Hotel St Bernard Le Petit Cafe

The Hotel St. Bernard is a landmark hotel at TSV with an outstanding reputation.  We stopped at Le Petit Cafe on the hotel’s deck to warm up with a delicious cup of Kona coffee.  Both the hotel and cafe are owned and run by the Mayer family, and the coffee comes from a family property in Hawaii.  Great hospitality runs in this family!  The photos below were taken at the Hotel St. Bernard.

What I Wore:  (click item name for shopping info, all lululemon athletica)

Run: Bundle Up Jacket (similar herehere, here):  Love this jacket…wish they would release it again!  It keeps me warm and comfortable, great on its own, or layered with a pullover.

Think Fast Pullover:  I like the high neck on this, to zip up all the way to keep warm.

Roll Down Wunder Under Pants:  Perfect as a base layer for skiing, or on their own.  I’ve become a fan of the high rise on these leggings!  This color is no longer available, but the Exquisite Pant is a similar style it is available in “black grape.”

Post Practice Party Toque:  Made of merino wool with cute pom-pom on top. One of my favorite lulu purchases this winter…glad I spotted it last minute at lululemon knox before our trip!

Sorel Tofino Boots:  I don’t know how I managed in Taos before without these boots!  Ryan got them for me at St. Bernard Sports as a gift, and I have been living in them on this trip.  So thankful he did!  Very warm and comfortable.  I like the Tofinos because they are a bit more narrow and streamlined than some of the other tall Sorel styles.
