How to Travel to Taos NM: Taos Air Review

Taos Regional Airport Recently I flew Taos Air direct from Dallas to Taos for a weekend glamping trip!

This service made getting away for the weekend a breeze, without a long drive or waiting in lines at an airport. I visit Taos (my hometown) often, so of course I was thrilled when I learned about this service! Door to door in less than two hours. Exciting update: JSX Air now operates round trip flight service to Taos! (Reel of my flight experience here)

Each time I’ve traveled with Taos Air I’ve had a fantastic experience!

My family and friends living in Taos are fans as well. It provides a fast way to get to Dallas to visit us or explore another city without having to drive an hour plus to an airport in a larger city.

I want to share the details and why I love this convenient service that provides flights to Taos, Dallas, Austin, San Diego, and Burbank! In fact, now is the perfect time to book an early fall getaway to any of these destinations…

The Taos Air Flight Experience

With Taos Air operated by JSX you get a private flight experience at a commercial price. So, what exactly does that mean? In a nutshell, the airport experience is elevated!

  • Faster, easier, and more comfortable than flying commercial! Taos Air provides convenient, VIP service from crowd-free private terminals with quick check-in. No long lines to wait in, just arrive 30-60 minutes before your flight.
  • You can check in two bags at no extra cost and if you need to change your flight you just pay the fare difference.  ⁣
  • Parking, check-in, and security are also hassle-free. Taos Air simplifies the travel experience, so you can get to your destination quickly and start enjoying your stay!

There are 30 seats on the jet, two seats on one side one seat on the opposite. In my experience, it’s a comfortable smooth flight and the attendants and staff are super friendly and helpful. And, Taos Air is a 100% carbon offset air service, keeping land preservation and protection top of mind.

*Tip: Snag a window seat!

As you fly over Taos, you’ll want to take in the aerial views of the stunning Rio Grande Gorge and mountains! On this trip we flew over the Gorge Bridge and seeing it from that perspective was breathtaking!

Even the snacks are top notch!

They generously offer delicious, locally made Taos Bakes specialty bars and nuts in addition to beverages (non alcoholic, beer, wine, and champagne offered) and other partner options. And on afternoon flights, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream is served. What a treat…give me ice cream, and I’m a happy camper!

What to Once You Get to Taos…

Oh, where do I begin?!

When traveling to Taos complimentary ground transportation is provided to/from Taos Ski Valley (reservation required). Or you can arrange for a rental car through Wheeler Peak Auto Rental. (See my Taos Travel Guide for my favorite places to eat, stay, and play in the area!)

Taos Ski Valley is wonderful any time of year for outdoor recreation!

Stay at The Blake (my personal favorite!) and hike and bike to your heart’s content during the summer. It features an amazing spa and fitness center, pools, and hot tubs. Or take a scenic chairlift ride and enjoy lunch at The Bavarian Restaurant. In the winter and spring you can’t beat the ski in/ski out luxury and convenience on the world famous mountain! It’s the perfect destination for your next ski vacation…

Don’t worry…although Taos draws expert level skiers and snowboarders they also have a fabulous ski school program for children and adults. There is also an ice skating rink in winter.

But, Taos Ski Valley is just one of the many attractions that draws visitors to Taos!

It’s magnificent, but there’s much more to explore. Stay in the town of Taos to experience the art, music, culinary delights, recreation, history, and culture the area has to offer. Or venture to the Enchanted Circle to Red River, Angel Fire, or Eagle Nest. Let Taos be your hub to explore as you wish! Plenty to discover, enjoy, and return to year after year!

What are you waiting for?

Book a flight this fall, winter, or spring, booking is open! Once you try it, you’ll be hooked! It truly is the easiest route to the Rockies!

Hey Andrea Thanks for the great info. What times of day did the flights depart from Dallas? I am planning a family vacation and we have to come in from Miami . Our final destination is Taos.

Hi Romaine! Currently JSX is not flying into Taos (because Ski Season is over). It’s temporary and they usually resume service in the summer months. Flight times out of dallas vary, but usually mid morning or early evening. American Eagle flies into Santa Fe (rent a car and then 1.5 hours drive to taos) and several airlines fly into the international airport in Albuquerque (2.5 hours drive to taos) Hope that helps in planning your trip! Happy to answer any other questions you may have!
