When my schedule gets busy, I use my workouts as a time to refresh! Whether I’m at the gym or in a studio class, I embrace the opportunity to zone out for a bit and focus only on moving and breathing…that’s it!
I try not to skip my workouts this time of year, because it’s the way I care for me. Afterwards, I feel focused and ready to give my time and attention to my family, work, friends, and anything else I have on the agenda! I’ll be honest, sometimes I let other things slide a little in favor of getting a workout in (looking at you, household chores!) but being active keeps me happy, healthy, and sane. As I like to say, “the laundry will still be there when I get back!”
Exercise is high on my priority list because I know the benefits give me greater capacity to get stuff done! By taking the time to do something good for my body, I’m more able to give of myself. Whether it’s a quick 20 minute walk or a full on workout, I never regret breaking a sweat!
My days are filled with errands, mom stuff, and workouts, so on most (ok, almost ALL) days you’ll find me in sneakers! I’m always on the lookout for comfy sneaks that perform well during workouts and feature stylish details. Both elements are equally important!
My current favorites are Under Armour Charged All Around running shoes from Finish Line. They’re great for running and walking, and also for training. They offer comfort and performance in one chic package! I especially love the pops of white, perfect to pair with any active/athleisure outfit. The unique details and the lightweight yet secure fit are what sold me on this shoe…and FYI, they’ve been marked down, 20% off! Grab them now to motivate your workouts heading into 2017! I’ve also linked a few more of my favorite Under Armour styles below…
You’ve probably heard me say this before, but I love circuit training workouts. They’re an efficient use of time and they keep me moving. Because I’m going from exercise to exercise with little rest, my heart rate stays up and I always break a nice sweat! Here’s what I do to maximize this type of workout:
- Warm up on a cardio machine for 5-10 minutes before beginning.
- Typically, I do 3-4 sets of 8-10 reps per exercise in each group, using a weight that feels very challenging during the last few reps, while still allowing me to maintain good form.
- If time allows, I follow up with 20-30 minutes of cardio intervals after I complete the circuit. Lately, I’ve been loving the challenge of incline walking on the treadmill…really gets the glutes and hamstrings activated!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day! xx
