Going skiing this winter, or over Spring Break? I’ve teamed up with The Move Project to show you three movements that will help you Move, Feel, and Perform better on the slopes this year! Integrate these movements into your weekly workouts to help build strength and endurance in your lower body, trunk, and spine.

After performing each movement, superset one set of 10-15 reps of Trunk Flexion (crunches).

Warm up on elliptical, bike, or treadmill for 5-10 minutes, at a moderate intensity. Then, complete the workout circuit below…
Three Movements for Stronger Skiing
Move One: Lateral Lunge
Do 1-2 sets of 6-10 Reps.
Tips on Form:
-Start with feet pointed straight ahead, spine in good posture.
-Hinge at Hips to focus on loading the glutes.
-Keep the knee in line with your foot.
-Hold Position for 3 seconds.
Move Two: Dumbbell Lat Row
Do 1-2 sets of 8-12 Reps.
Tips on Form:
-Start with feet pointed straight ahead, spine in good posture.
-Hinge at hips, lean upper body forward to a comfortable position. **If this position is uncomfortable, you can substitute a standing cable or tubing lat row.
-Pull shoulder blades together, then pull elbows back and up towards your hips, pause with elbow at your side.
-Hold for 1-2 seconds.
Move Three: Narrow Squat (Body Weight or Dumbbell)
Do 1-2 sets of 20-25 Reps.
Tips on Form:
-Start with feet pointed straight ahead, spine in good posture.
-Hinge at the hips as you lean your upper body forward and bend the knees to the desired position.
-Hold for 1-2 seconds.
