As you might guess, shopping is an activity Marisa and I enjoy doing together! Sometimes our styles merge and sometimes they don’t, but turns out we both like scallop details! It’s fun to be able to wear the same trend while putting our own spin on it, all without looking too “matchy.” (This is key!) It’s also nice when we find brands that make styles we both want to wear. Lilly Pulitzer and Lauren James are perfect examples of this!
On a recent visit to Saint Bernard, an adorable pair of print shorts with scallop hem caught Marisa’s eye. They were a perfect fit, and she styled them on her own with a basic tee and gold lace up sandals. I’m enjoying watching her develop her own personal style and tastes…and she often inspires me to try new things in my wardrobe! (These shorts are such a great find. Do you know how hard it is to find shorts for teens, and just in general that are not too short, but not too long?! We’ll both be getting these in more colors…love the 4 and 5 inch inseams!)
Summer is the perfect time to try the scallop trend! This Lauren James seersucker sundress was a must-have for me! It’s my first piece from this line, and I really love the fit. It didn’t require any alterations, and fit true to size. I like the classic styling of the pieces, and that they can be dressed up or down. Oh, and it has pockets…love!! I’m tempted to get the another in white…
I accessorized my dress with some favorite pieces under $100: colorful drop earrings (a steal at $18!), a new favorite pair of grey wedges that are super comfortable, and these sunnies ($13) I wear all the time! Style Steal Tip: the accessory department in the juniors section at Nordstrom has awesome sunglasses! I actually went back and bought a few more pairs of these and the black ones I like, because I’m afraid they’ll stop making them. Such a great buy, especially for those of us that aren’t careful with their sunglasses (me!) and/or don’t want to spend a lot on them!
These photos are from our most recent family photo session with my friend and photographer, Jennifer Cortes! I love how they turned out, so tomorrow I’ll be sharing a few more in honor of Mother’s Day. Plus, I’ll also have a special offer on mini-sessions with Jennifer that you won’t want to miss!
