LBD + RED PUMPS

dallas-fashion-blogger-loubies-and-lulu-4755Today I’m sharing a recent favorite find.  It is a versatile Little Black Dress from French Connection.  Just last week, I had an event to attend (the Go Red for Women luncheon), and of course, was at the last minute looking for something to wear.  I don’t purchase dresses often, unless I have an event or occasion to attend.  I will admit that because I wear mostly workout clothes daily, such an occasion is usually met with both excitement and a bit of wardrobe anxiety!  While I actually love getting dressed up, sometimes I feel out of practice.

I completely lucked out this time, as this dress was one of the first I tried on at Nordstrom!  I love everything about this dress…the fabric, seaming, fit, and especially the shoulder details and neckline!  Also a plus, I did not have to get this dress altered.  It fit right off the rack!  After this shopping trip, I decided I need to focus my shopping on building my (non-workout) wardrobe with great basics such as this dress.  As much as I love activewear, I also need to have pieces I can easily pull from to dress myself anxiety-free!

Everyone should have at least one great fitting LBD in their closet that can be transformed by changing up makeup, accessories, and shoes!  To compliment this dress for the Go Red event, I chose a pair of red Trouve’ pumps and my Rebecca Minkoff  “Crosby” handbag.  Love this little handbag that can be worn lots of ways…crossbody, shoulder (short or long strap), or as a clutch.  And, perfect time to wear a new favorite, Siren lipstick, in Tryst from Vapour Organic Beauty (c/o).  Tryst is a gorgeous, universal shade of neutral red.  Topped off the look with simple jewelry and I was ready to go!  Shop my look + more below…

I’d love to know…What are your staple items?  You know, the tried and true pieces you reach for when you need a quick outfit. Comment and share!

  1. Love this look! Your lip color looks so nice. I have a MUFE red but I rarely wear it because it’s really intense. Tryst looks a little more understated–red but not TOO red, which I think I would be more comfortable with for casual occasions.

I have had great luck with French Connection. As a petite lady, their stuff fits me really well. That dress fits you to a T too. 🙂

Hi Suzanne! Thank you for your kind words! I think you might like this lip color from Vapour, if you are looking for something that is red, but not super intense. This one is kinda sheer, but buildable! Their glosses are also really nice too. I think you are totally right about French Connection being great for petites like us! It can be really difficult (as you probably know!) to find dresses that fit right off the rack without alterations, so I am always super excited when I find one I love…
