Summer in Taos

Hiking in Taos I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe the month of June is coming to an end!  We’ll be headed out of town very soon!  This is the third year in a row we’ll be taking an extended summer stay (5 weeks!) in our hometown of Taos, New Mexico.  In past years, we’d spend two weeks, and get back to Dallas wishing we’d stayed longer!  So, we tried extending our summer trips, and we love it!

It’s wonderful being there, enjoying plenty of time outdoors and with family.  I’ll be spending the next few days prepping our family for our trip.  Not by myself, of course, Ryan is a huge help with this!  Packing for 5 weeks is not a small feat, and he is definitely more organized than I am…thank goodness!

I wanted to give you all a little update on what I’ll be doing the next several weeks while we are away!  I’ll still be blogging and posting regularly on social media, and there are lots of ways to follow if you want to see what we’re up to while in New Mexico!  We’ve got lots of adventures planned…can’t wait!

We’re especially looking forward to spending time in Taos this year…because now we have a place to call home!  It’s always been a dream of ours, and it became real this spring, when we became owners of the house I grew up in.  We’ve been slowly furnishing and decorating it from a distance (hello, Pinterest!) and can’t wait to pull it all together once we get there!  It will be a fun project to work on during our stay.

We’ve discovered that Ryan has a knack for home decor (and I don’t, haha!).  He’s been so creative with putting together rooms and finding things that fit our budget and style.  I give my opinion on the things he selects, but he’s definitely the creative force behind our vision for the house.  For that, I am grateful!  (You can see the boards/rooms he’s curated on my Pinterest account!)  And, I’ll be sharing more details on our #TaosHouse as we go, for those of you who are interested…

I’m sharing some photos from last year’s stay, to give you an idea of the kind of activities we do while in New Mexico!  We’ll do some of these again, and are looking forward to trying some new things, too!  New Mexico is very rich in culture and tradition.  During our visits, its important to us to expose our kids to these things, as well as the arts and outdoors as much as possible.  Most of our time is spent in Taos, but we also venture out on day/overnight trips to other parts of the state.

We have a deep love and appreciation for our homestate and hometown, and I hope you’ll follow along as we share our Summer In Taos! (Click on the headings for more info…)
